How To Create A Warm & Cozy Bedroom

Do you feel good when you spend time into your bedroom? Is there room for improvement that can help your overall happiness and mood, especially when we are spending so much time at home? We've asked Jaclyn Musselman to share some ideas on how to make your your bedroom warm and cozy to welcome you at the end of a long day.

Our bedrooms are one of the last places we tend to decorate in the house. We put our efforts in the main living spaces, but do not take time to work on the room that we spend 1/3 of our lives in! There are a few simple things you can do to create a warm and cozy bedroom.

You might wonder why you should put the effort into decorating your bedroom since you (and your partner) might be the only one who sees it. But, there are many reasons to create a cozy master bedroom space. For one, your bedroom is the one space in the house that is yours, so you have the opportunity to truly personalize it to your liking. Also, your bedroom is a place that you should want to retreat to at night, or for a quiet time during the day.

Not only will you like to spend time in a cozy bedroom but you just might get a better night's sleep in a calm and peaceful environment. So how can you create a cozy bedroom?

Here are 5 Tips to Creating a Cozy Bedroom:

1. REMOVE CLUTTER

First things first, in order to have a calm and cozy bedroom, you need to eliminate distractions. Be sure your bedroom floor is cleared from clothing, unwanted decor and any other clutter. You will want to take the time to be sure that everything in your master bedroom has a home and a place to stay.

Less is more when it comes to achieving a cozy and tranquil master bedroom. So, decluttering is a key part of decorating the room.

2. INVEST IN A QUALITY MATTRESS

Most moms I know spend time finding quality mattresses for their kids, yet do not focus on their own mattress needs. We all know how much a bad mattress can affect our sleep and not provide the cozy night's sleep we need!

We have been using the  Haven 14” Lux Hybrid Mattress  and I can honestly say the mattress improves the coziness factor in the room! Made with plant-based latex and foam, this eco-friendly mattress conforms to your body. The Haven Lux Hybrid is so cozy!

3. HAVE SEVERAL LIGHTING OPTIONS

One sure way to make any room feel cozy is to have the right lighting. In a master bedroom, good lighting should include a few bedside lamps. In the daytime you may want the overhead lights. But it is nice to switch to a cozy vibe with lamps by the sides of the bed.

Another lighting option to consider is a few candles or some flameless candle votives.

4. CHANGE THE MOOD WITH WINDOW TREATMENTS

To ensure a cozy bedroom, it is important to have the right window covering. First,  it is good to have light blocking elements like roman shades or blinds to help you get a restful sleep, but the extra decor element that really adds coziness is good curtains.

5. ADD TEXTURE WITH BLANKETS AND PILLOWS

Lastly, the best way to make a bedroom cozy is to have warm blankets and a lot of pillows. Blankets can really add warmth and coziness to a room.

Depending on the season, you can opt for a lightweight blanket in warmer weather and then a thick and chunky wool blanket in the fall and winter months.
