Building in Canada is How we roll...the origin story by Scott Amis (Founder/CEO)

by Scott Amis

We’ve always resisted the cost savings of building our Haven Sleep Co. mattresses and bedding products offshore.

Growing up in Kitchener Waterloo my family shop local outlet as great way to be part of the community and buy direct (for less) from the producers.
Every Saturday AM we went to one of two huge Farmers Markets (market square or Elmira) then M&M meats (yes Max opened store #1 there 1980) My shirts were Arrow Shirt co, and dress shoes were Bass weejuns. In winter, boots were Greb/Kaufman and skates were Bauer. My lunches were packed with JM Schneider meats and Colonial cookies. When older, I loved to grab 12 stubby from Brick Brewing ‘s side door (what’s a craft beer in 1985?)or a nip from a local Seagrams 83.
So for some folks “shop local” is a welcomed part of their new routine. Living in KW, it was a gift to have limitless options woven into the fabric of how we roll.
